December Read Aloud Lesson Plans and Activities for Kids

Feeling the crisp, cold air at this time of the month means that Christmas is fast approaching. Nothing is truly more magical than a special holiday read-aloud for the kids suitable for this season.

This quote by Carl Sagan implies the importance of reading aloud to children at an early age, “One of the greatest gifts adults can give – to their offspring and to their society – is to read to children.

A child's reading skills are fundamental to his or her success in school, in career, and in life in general.

It's great to spark their interest at each stage of their reading journey since this will help them develop their abilities and feed their curiosity.

If you want to learn more about the top advantages of reading to children, continue reading this blog post! I also included my personal recommendations for holiday read aloud materials that you can incorporate to keep them engaged in this hectic season.

MY BLOG’S PURPOSE

It's the holiday season, and it's usually always a busy one! It's easy to get caught up in the frenzy of assessments, observations, projects, and planning parties.

One thing I enjoy doing is making time and planning to read aloud to my students. Making time to slow down and read aloud to the children will help you create meaningful connections on a daily basis.

I’m pretty sure it’s difficult to keep kids participating since it’s basically Christmas fever and they might prefer playing when it’s close to the Christmas break, but you've got this!

Let them embrace the Christmas spirit since December is just around the corner with these read aloud activities to show them that this season is a time for cheer, love, and togetherness.

You can download these delightful December read aloud resources for the entire family to enjoy while the nights get longer and the days get shorter. These resources for Christmas are the perfect fit for both fun and teaching standards-based content whether you’re teaching in a classroom or home setting.
